Boundary and Student Assignment Study 2023 Timeline
March 2023: Project launch and Meeting 1 of the DC Advisory Committee on Student Assignment and Boundaries 2023
May 3, 2023: Meeting 2 of the Advisory Committee
May 2023: May Town Halls where participants heard an overview of the study process, goals, and timeline, and provided feedback about guiding principles and challenges around clear student assignments to by-right schools and feeder pathways. Both town halls covered the same content.
May 30, 2023: Meeting 3 of the Advisory Committee
June 21, 2023: Meeting 4 of the Advisory Committee
July 19, 2023: Meeting 5 of the Advisory Committee
September 14, 2023: Meeting 6 of the Advisory Committee
September 25 & 26, 2023: Virtual town halls where participants reviewed the landscape of DCPS boundaries and student assignment analysis, provided feedback on potential policy tools, and received an introduction to the online web tool.
October 24, 2023: Meeting 7 of the Advisory Committee
November 2023 to January 2024:
- School community meetings where DME will engage with school communities that may be significantly affected by any boundary or feeder pattern revision scenario. These will be determined as the scenarios are developed and information becomes available from the Master Facilities Plan 2023. Additionally, DME will provide a web-based planning tool that will allow community members to explore the potential impacts of various boundary and feeder scenarios.
December 5, 2023: Meeting 8 of the Advisory Committee
December 2023: Final Town Halls where DME will share and solicit feedback on potential student assignment policies and ideas regarding updates to DCPS boundaries and feeder patterns.
December 20, 2023: Meeting 9 of the Advisory Committee
January 10, 2023: Meeting 10 of the Advisory Committee
January 31, 2024: Meeting 11 of the Advisory Committee
March 2024: Final Recommendations: The final report of recommendations from the DC Advisory Committee on Student Assignment will be submitted to the Mayor in March 2024.
