2022 Master Facilities Plan Supplement

Thursday, February 9, 2023

On February 8, 2023, the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Education (DME) released the 2022 Master Facilities Plan (MFP) Annual Supplement, pursuant to D.C. Official Code § 38-2803, in partnership with the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS), the DC Public Charter School Board (DC PCSB), the Office of the State Superintendent (OSSE), and the Department of General Services (DGS). The 2022 MFP Supplement provides information for DCPS and DC public charter schools regarding the following:

  • SY2021-22 enrollment for DCPS and public charter schools;
  • SY2021-22 facility capacity and utilization, and plans for DCPS facilities that are under- or over-utilized;
  • DCPS facility classification as of February 2023; and
  • DCPS vacant facility information as of February 2023.

The 2022 MFP Annual Supplement is the annual follow-up to the 2018 MFP, submitted to the DC Council in February 2019. The 2018 MFP provided extensive information about current and future facility utilization, facility condition assessments, facility modernization efforts, population forecasts, school-specific enrollment projections, and aspirational school enrollment plans. The 2022 MFP Annual Supplement builds upon the data provided in the 2018 MFP, as well as the subsequent annual supplements (2019, 2020, and 2021).

In addition, the DME is required to prepare a 5-year Master Facilities Plan by December 2023. In anticipation of this full plan, the 2022 supplement does not include information about DCPS or public charter facility conditions (e.g., facilitation condition assessments, asbestos, carbon monoxide, or water testing). It will be included in the full plan.
