The District of Columbia, by and through the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Education (DME), is soliciting grant applications from organizations to conduct a study of the UPSFF: the 2020 UPSFF Study Grant (“Grant”). The Grant is a one-time grant of operating funds not to exceed $300,000.
The funds were allocated by the Mayor and approved by the Council of the District of Columbia pursuant to section 4032(a) of the Fiscal Year 2020 Budget Support Act of 2019 (B23-209) “for a study of the uniform per student funding formula as recommended by the February 1, 2019 report of the Uniform Per Student Funding Formula Working Group.” This study serves an important public service to the District and must provide forward-thinking, strategic recommendations to help shape the future direction of the UPSFF, while evaluating several key components of the formula as currently implemented. The study must also take into account the ever-changing shifts in education and instruction that will be necessary to ensure that DCPS and DC Public Charter School students graduate ready for college and a career.
