Getting Involved and Timeline

Critical to the success of this process is a comprehensive community engagement plan. District residents will have multiple opportunities to get involved and provide input throughout the process including the following:

  • Participate in a focus group. Focus groups are an opportunity to provide in-depth input into various policy options being discussed by the Advisory Committee. At this time, all focus groups have been conducted. Please see the focus group report.

  • Volunteer to join a working group. The DME is hosting Community Working Group Meetings throughout the District on the Student Assignment and School Boundaries Review process. The Community Working groups will allow you to learn more about this process, provide input and work with community members to review and respond to proposed student assignment and school boundary policies. Select from the flyer(s) below to view exact dates, times and locations for all community working group meetings. Please sign up here to participate in a working group.

Timeline

Visit the timeline table page to view the timeline.

The final plan will be released in September 2014. Changes will begin to take effect for the 2015-16 school year. However, to support a smooth transition, “grandfathering” provisions will buffer the immediate impact on many current students and their families.
