Cathy Reilly, a Ward 4 resident, is the Executive Director and Co-Founder of the Senior High Alliance of Parents, Principals and Educators (S.H.A.P.P.E.), a coalition of the DCPS high schools. S.H.A.P.P.E. has been meeting monthly since February of 1998 to strategically influence policies, practices and budget decisions that impact our city’s teenagers. She has served on the Wilson, Coolidge and Roosevelt high school Local School Restructuring (Advisory) Teams. She has also served on the Board of Directors of the 21st Century School Fund and on the Board of Directors for the D.C. Assembly of School Based Health Care. She currently serves on the board of the Children's Art Studio. Her three children attended D.C. Public Schools and she served as president of the Oyster Community Council and the Wilson PTA during that time.
Cathy attended Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and later the Washington Therapy Guild Training Program. She worked as a child psychotherapist from 1978 to 1986 with Pastoral Counseling and Consultation Centers of Washington. She also teaches 2 and 3 year old children at St. Paul’s Nursery School where she has taught for the last 21 years.
