The Mayor's Buff and Scrub provides members of the business community an opportunity to contribute to the educational success and well-being of students in the District of Columbia Public Schools.

Businesses make a contribution to a DCPS school to support small-scale and aesthetic facilities improvements. Contributions may be "in-kind" by construction and contracting firms.

Business in other sectors may contribute non-skilled labor such as painting and cleaning in other sectors may pay a skilled firm to complete additional work needed by the school. Contributions are expected to combine to at least $15,000 per school, and may be made by one business working alone or by a combination of businesses working together.

In summer 2007, businesses in the DC area contributed over $1.2 million to our schools.
